“Walking with God!”
Genesis 5:24; Hebrew 11:5
I believe that I can make the following prediction about 2010: all of us in some fashion will experience the death of a loved one, health challenge, a relationship that is fractured, some emotional drama, a battle that you do not have the strength to fight, and/or some financial difficulty. And because in 2010 the unthinkable will occur; I HIGHLY recommend the following; walking with God. It is only when we walk with God that we are able to handle the vicissitudes of life. And think it not strange concerning the trials that you will have to negotiate and navigate through in the ensuing year; into all our lives some rain must fall. And if however, you negotiate and navigate through the year without strain and stress; pray for your brothers who will have to endure the unthinkable. Since, daily walking with God is vitally needful and necessary for the living of our days, How do we walk with God in 2010?
I. When we accept God’s salvation in Jesus Christ as we engage in an intimate relationship with God. This means more than going to church occasionally on Watch Night, 1st Sunday of the New Year, Palm Sunday, Easter Sunday and Mother’s Day, and/or Christmas Eve but rather dedicating yourself to daily worship. Worship is essential to having an intimate relationship with God. GO TO CHURCH!!!
II. When we appropriate the spiritual discipline of prayer. Prayer is our conversation with God. The scholarship of sociologist and psychologists inform us that it is an impossibility to have a meaningful, lasting, purposeful relationship without cohesive dialogue. Prayer is our cohesive dialogue that brings us closer with God. The worth of prayer avails much for the living of our days. Prayer ensures that God speaks to us in our meditations, reflections, and deliberations about this labyrinth called LIFE. PRAY DAILY.
III. When we appreciate the spiritual discipline of obedience. Our motive for pleasing God must never be utilitarian. Our obedience must reflect our unswerving fidelity to God. Obedience results from the outgrowth of our intimate relationship and prayer life with God. Pleasing God provides us with a twofold promise; one, God will supply all of our needs, and two, God will grant us the desires of our heart. God has all sufficient means to grant our desires. BE OBEDIENT.
It is believe by theologians and Biblical scholars alike that because Enoch and God had such a close intimate relationship that they were engaged in a conversation as they walked together in obedience and the nature of their conversation was so intense that they walked out of time into eternity. And Enoch was no more. God may not spare us from the pain and pong of life however, when we walk in faithful obedience, pray daily and worship regularly then and only then are we able to handle the vicissitudes of life with hope and endless possibilities. Let walk with God in 2010. Amen!!! |
