DAYTON, OH – July 7, 2015: The Funk Music Hall of Fame and Exhibition Center (aka “The Funk Center”) will receive a contribution from a fraternity’s regional alumni chapter in a ceremony in Trotwood, OH on Wednesday, July 8, 2015. The meeting is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
Kappa Alpha Psi’s Dayton-Montgomery County alumni chapter will present a check to The Funk Center during an alumni chapter meeting, chapter president Eric Bradley said.
David Webb, the Funk Center’s president and CEO, will deliver a short talk to the meeting prior to the check presentation.
“This is the beginning of a relationship we hope to continue by partnering with the Funk Museum,” Bradley said. “We think this is a great initiative,” he added
Webb heads a non-profit organization this is working to establish The Funk Music Hall of Fame & Exhibition Center in the Dayton area, a hotbed of Funk music beginning in the early 1970s. Plans call for a facility that will honor Funk performers, provide a venue for live music, and classrooms to teach music to young people.
“We’re thankful for the support and excited about the partnership with Kappa Alpha Psi,” Webb said. “We look forward to bringing the story of Funk Music to our community and especially to students,” he said.
