The Dayton Alumni chapter, who will be celebrating its 70th anniversary on December 17, was presented with the City of Learners Certificate by Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley on November 16, 2016. At the request of the Dayton City Commission, The Brothers of the Dayton Alumni Chapter, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. attended their regular commission meeting on Wednesday November 16, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. to receive the award. Highlights of achievement included the chapter celebrating its 70th anniversary on December 17, the city hosting the 2016 East Central Province Council meeting April 7 – 10, adopting Dunbar High School, actively supporting the Men of Color Initiative in partnership with Brother Commissioner Mims, strengthening families through the SIDS initiative, and other accomplishments. Recently, the Dayton Alumni Chapter began working with Brother Deputy Chief Mark Ecton on recruitment of Minority prospects between 20 – 34 years old for the police force. The Dayton Alumni Chapter was also recognized as the East Central Province Chapter of the Year. Brother Commissioner Mims noted that whenever he needs assistance in the city, the brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi are always there to support the community.
