COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Less than a week away from Thanksgiving, a local alumni chapter of a national fraternity aims at making a difference for central Ohio families in need.
On Saturday, members of the Kappa Alpha Psi Columbus Alumni Chapter donated nearly 400 frozen turkeys. The effort was done to provide basic meals for those who are struggling around the holidays.
“Our Christian values have taught us the importance of giving back to others in need,” said chapter president Philip Shotwell. “For the last five years, we appreciate the opportunity to serve those in need. We have seen people come out here in tears with gratitude because they didn’t know how they were going to feed their family. We count it a privilege and honor to give back and are so appreciative of our partnership with Walmart to make this happen. Our fundamental purpose is achievement. We haven’t really achieved until we have given back.”
This was the fifth year of the chapter’s annual giveaway.
