Charleston (WV) Alumni Chapter joined EnAct Community Action and other community organizations in celebrating the kids of the community! For some kids, school can be exciting, stressful, fun, exhausting, and/or scary. The men in the community are showing kids that men can be supportive, nurturing, and that they think school is important. Through a collaborative effort, one hundred men greeted and encourage kids at Stonewall Middle School, Mary C. Snow Elementary School, and Piedmont Elementary School, as they walk into school on August 14, 2017, the first day of school for Kanawha County schools. These three schools service predominately low income and minority children. There is a high rate of transience in the children that attend these schools as well as a high rate of single parent households. Charleston (WV) Alumni Chapter chose to participate at Mary C. Snow Elementary as the chapter already has a mentoring program at the school.
